Tiffani Johnson, School Director
After growing up in the child care world, I quickly realized that being involved with young children was my passion. I worked in different preschools through high school and college and loved every minute. I graduated college at Stephen F. Austin with a Bachelor in Education. I moved back to the area and began working at Bearfoot Lodge Private School. I have grown with the company over the years working in every classroom, teaching Private Kinder, Assistant Director, and now Director. I am happily married to my husband Ryan who is a Plano Firefighter. We have three beautiful daughters, Kennedy, Taylor, and Austynn, who keep us busy with cheerleading.
It is such a joy to watch our Bearfoot children grow and develop and rewarding to see our very first babies now having a blast in our school age program. I am privileged to be a part of a team of teachers that is dedicated to teaching and nurturing our children each and every day. Our teachers are committed to both group centered teaching styles and individualized teaching in order to meet all the needs of our children. I believe strongly in building a partnership with our families, as we are truly an extended family. We are committed to building this partnership through multiple communication avenues, including personal phone calls, teacher/parent conferences and communication logs, and most importantly, face to face connections. We have been blessed to watch the community build up around our center, and enjoy building relationships with our local neighborhoods and elementary schools.
Our center offers 3 separate outdoor play areas for different age groups, and an indoor climbing gym. We have a computer lab which is enjoyed by our two’s, preschool, and school age classes. Our toddler and preschool curriculum is a hands on style of learning. We offer multiple choices in education for the older pre-k child to challenge each child on an individual level, including our Jumpstart Kindergarten Club and advanced Jr. Kindergarten. Each year, we enjoy bringing families together during our fall and spring open house, fall carnival, Christmas program, graduation ceremony, and more.
It is a blessing to be a part of our Bearfoot children’s growth and development each and every day. There is not a day that goes by that I am not touched by something sweet, silly, or amazing that our children do. It is truly a pleasure serving our Bearfoot community and family.
Michele Landis, Teacher
Hi! I’m Michele Landis, I’m originally from Philadelphia PA. My husband Jeff is retired from the Air Force so we have lived in a few places. We have been married for 29 years and have 2 children, Chris & Melissa. I have been a caregiver for over 25 years. I received my Infant/Toddler CDA in October 2014, which was a goal for many years. I have been at Bearfoot Lodge for 7 Years. I have stayed in the infant wing but have been in babies for 5 years. I love working at Bearfoot Lodge because of all the families & co-workers. The children are a blessing and I love to see their smiling faces and hear their tiny giggles.
Erica Briggs, Teacher
Hello, my name is Erica Briggs! I am a teacher in Pre-k B here at Bearfoot Lodge in Wylie. I love working with young children, and have been working with this company for ten years. While working for Bearfoot I have worked with all age groups the school assists, but have found a true joy for working with the older three and four year old group I currently teach in Pre-k B. Now I will share a little about myself. I am a Christian, and always praise Jesus Christ for all my everyday accomplishments, and the degrees I have obtained from Ashford University. I have received my Associates of Arts in Early Childhood Education, Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education Administration, and now my Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology (all achieved through the grace of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ). I was also blessed to receive all my degrees with honors, and I am also a member of the following honor societies: Phi Theta Kappa, and Golden Key International. Some of the things that I like to do in my free time are: go to church, spend time with my family and friends, draw, sing, do crafts, play video and board games, go to the movies, swim, go to restaurants, have spa days, and travel. Lastly, a teaching quote that I love is one that we had made into pins to wear in my teaching interns class in high school, it says:
Teachers Love to Learn, Children Learn to Love (author, unknown)!
This is a reflection of my beliefs about education because I believe that the students in your class feed off your energy. Therefore, I believe if you love what you do, they will too, and learn even better along the way.
Amber Bates, Teacher
I'm originally from Madisonville, TX. I graduated from Wylie High in 2007 and my hobbies are going to concerts, listening to music, vinyl collecting, and movies.. I became a part of the Bearfoot Lodge family the same month I graduated to which I started out as a floater/ sub for 6 months. I subbed in the baby room in the beginning and wound up being the permanent baby room teacher for the last 7 1/2 years. I received my CDA in October 2014. The outcome I received from Bearfoot are all of the beautiful kids I've taken care of along with families and friends I've met though the years.
